“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me… Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and sustain in me a willing spirit.” (Psalm 51.10,12)

Return to Genesis

Freed from the fracas of the day,
The mind replays them frame by frame:
Disjointed debris from the fray
Where no two moments seem the same.

The fragments, scattered as they fall,
Settle into freshly rolled clay;
In prayer, the heart finds its withdrawal —
Silence its solace from the day.

The fragments of chaotic churn,
Fall silent in a deep repose
Of prayer — the means to stop and turn
Back to the Source from whom life flows.

Lift up your eyes and look within:
His light refracts the fragment floor;
And stand, despite the pain of sin —
His love forgives all to restore.

Authentic prayer renews the whole:
Re-genesis of heart and soul.

Lord Jesus, draw me home in prayer, heal me, forgive me, and restore me in your grace to the the original creation you have called me to become. Amen.
