“I urge you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God, your spiritual worship. Do not conform yourselves to this age but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and pleasing and perfect…love one another with mutual affection; anticipate one another in showing honor. Do not grow slack in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord…Have the same regard for one another; do not be haughty but associate with the lowly; do not be wise in your own estimation.…If possible, on your part, live at peace with all.” (Romans 12: 1-2,10,11,16,18)
Always seek out the lower place,
And strive to go against your will:
A humbled heart attracts God’s grace;
The emptied self He yearns to fill.
Strive to maintain a constant peace,
And, in your heart, cling to nothing:
A detached heart will find release
From all that keeps it from its King.
Work to honor the other soul,
And serve without expecting pay;
With dignity, all are made whole;
In charity, we learn the Way.
With these means, peace prepares the place:
A palace for the Prince to dwell;
A wellspring of life-giving grace
Flows from His throne — Emmanuel.
Peace propagates with charity,
Detachment and Humility.
Lord, may Your peace find a lasting home deep within my heart, that I may be a means of Your Peace to all whom I serve. Amen
