Wellspring From Within

"but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst; the water that I shall give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life." (1)

"if you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday. And the LORD will guide you continually, and satisfy your desire with good things, and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters fail not." (2)

The Diviner

My prayer is a divining rod
Which searches for the well within;
This wellspring of the grace of God
Will quench my soul left parched by sin.

In my pursuit of happiness,
My heart was often led astray;
Illusion led to emptiness
And left my soul in disarray.

Since then I've seen that God alone
Can quench my soul's undying thirst;
He draws water from my heart's stone
And fills my soul 'til it could burst!

With soul restored, my heart is freed
To flow anew with charity;
To stream with love to those in need,
And well up to eternity.
