I Choose To Obey
"I call heaven and earth today to witness
against you: I have set before you
life and
death, the blessing and the curse.
Choose
life, then, that you and your descendants
may live, by loving the LORD, your
God, heeding
his voice, and holding fast to him.
For that
will mean life for you, a long life
for you
to live on the land which the LORD
swore
he would give to your fathers Abraham,
Isaac
and Jacob." (1)
By Degree, Not Decree
I am a freeman -- I avoid
The trappings of obedience;
But in my license, I'm destroyed,
And trapped in disobedience.
I am a chooser -- I decide
To discover what's truth for me;
Yet in my searching, I'll have died,
Failing to pierce God's mystery.
I am a child -- I follow
The Lamb wherever He may lead;
The Truth is not hard to swallow --
The Bread of Life on which I feed.
For God gave us freedom to choose
To follow Him or lose the way;
When we take charge -- that's when we lose:
True freedom's found when we obey!
