Steady My Heart
"Be patient, therefore, brethren, until
the coming of the Lord. Behold, the farmer
waits for the precious fruit of the earth,
being patient over it until it receives the
early and the late rain. You also be patient.
Establish your hearts, for the coming of
the Lord is at hand. Do not grumble, brethren,
against one another, that you may not be
judged; behold, the Judge is standing at
the doors. As an example of suffering and
patience, brethren, take the prophets who
spoke in the name of the Lord. Behold, we
call those happy who were steadfast. You
have heard of the steadfastness of Job, and
you have seen the purpose of the Lord, how
the Lord is compassionate and merciful."
(1)
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be
steadfast,
immovable, always abounding in the
work of
the Lord, knowing that in the Lord
your labor
is not in vain." (2)
The Steadfast Heart
The steadfast heart endures in love.
It knows its strength is sacrifice.
Its foundation is God above:
Its Lord, the Lamb, who paid its price.
The steadfast heart endures in prayer.
It knows its called to live attuned:
To place its life in Spirit's care;
To sigh with Him -- gently perfumed.
The steadfast heart endures in peace.
Its secret is serenity:
It knows the storms of time will cease,
And it will reach eternity.
O Lord, steady my listing heart;
May it rest on Your steadfast love.
In prayer, may your Spirit impart,
A lasting peace drawn from above.
