Peace! Be Stilled!
"Be still before the LORD, and wait
patiently for him" (1)
The Fullness Of Silence
A placid pool shows its depth,
When cleared of its churning debris;
A quiet heart which finds its breath
In silence, is stilled and set free.
This silence shields the fragile soul,
Which gazes on the Divine Light:
Basking in Love, it is made whole;
Resting in Truth, it yields insight.
This silence reigns in solitude;
Absorbing all that draws away.
The peace transforms my attitude:
In steadfast peace, I watch and pray.
Fully present to the Divine,
I'm readied to receive His grace:
He pours His Spirit into mine,
Holding me steadfast in my place.
O wondrous silence, quiet me!
May all my faculties be stilled:
In placid peace, I am set free;
In empty silence, I am filled.
