Understanding The Truth

"Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good life let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom." (1)

"My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; yes, if you cry out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures; then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God. For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding; he stores up sound wisdom for the upright; he is a shield to those who walk in integrity, guarding the paths of justice and preserving the way of his saints." Standing Under The Light

My mind's theories kept us apart:
In darkness, they withstood Your light;
And all the judgements of my heart,
Were aberrations in Your sight.

You called me to understanding:
Beyond my mind's weak rationale;
Above my heart's meandering --
Like errant sheep called to corral.

I learned my ways are not Your ways;
Only by grace is wisdom wrought.
My heart's a hole; my mind's a maze:
But by Your light, the truth is sought.

Lord, in Your truth, resolve my mind;
Fill my heart with understanding.
What was self-sought now's meek and kind:
I seek Your hand in ev'rything.

I trust in Truth; I seek insight:
Understanding receives the Light!
