The Riches Of A Pure Heart
"And Jesus looked around and said to
his disciples, 'How hard it will be for those
who trust in riches to enter the kingdom
of God!' And the disciples were amazed at
his words. But Jesus said to them again,
'Children, how hard it is for those who trust
in riches to enter the kingdom of God! It
is easier for a camel to go through the eye
of a needle than for a rich man to enter
the kingdom of God.' And they were exceedingly
astonished, and said to him, 'Then who can
be saved?' Jesus looked at them and said,
'With men it is impossible, but not with
God; for all things are possible with God.'"
"O the depth of the riches and wisdom
and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are
his judgments and how inscrutable his ways!
'For who has known the mind of the Lord,
or who has been his counselor? Or who has
given a gift to him that he might be repaid?'
For from him and through him and to him are
all things. To him be glory for ever. Amen."
My spirit, in its simple way,
Seeks its riches in the Lord.
The love He gives we can't repay;
Nor could we ever afford.
For all that we can take beyond,
Is the love we give away.
The things of which our hearts grow
Vanish with the close of day.
My spirit struggles to be free,
Of these things that weigh it down.
The things I think make me happy,
Turns a smile to a frown.
My spirit finds its true freedom,
In the purest love of God.
Our hearts become His new kingdom;
As they dance with joy and laud.
