His Purpose

"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and return not thither but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes forth from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and prosper in the thing for which I sent it" 1

"In him, according to the purpose of him who accomplishes all things according to the counsel of his will, we who first hoped in Christ have been destined and appointed to live for the praise of his glory." 2

"We know that in everything God works for good with those who love him, who are called according to his purpose." 3

Drawn to His Will

We are created to serve God;
His humble service is our call.
I must be trained to know His nod;
To find the Master's will in all.

Created with an emptiness,
Which only He can come to fill,
My heart longs to please His Highness:
With joyful love, to do His will.

But I am mortal, weak and frail,
Subject to many falls per day.
Through these I learn my ways do fail;
By them I'm trained to trust His way.

He provides for my needs in all;
His light shines on me as I pray.
With heart attuned, I hear His call:
He beckons me and leads the way!

Each step I take with confidence.
He is the Way; He has the plan.
He sustains me with Providence.
He is my God; I am His man!
