God's Gifted Children
"At that time the disciples came to
Jesus, saying, 'Who is the greatest in the
kingdom of heaven?' And calling to him a
child, he put him in the midst of them, and
said, "Truly, I say to you, unless you
turn and become like children, you will never
enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles
himself like this child, he is the greatest
in the kingdom of heaven. Whoever receives
one such child in my name receives me…See
that you do not despise one of these little
ones; for I tell you that in heaven their
angels always behold the face of my Father
who is in heaven." 1
Agatha's First Eucharist
Young Agatha, in white gown fair,
Prepares to meet her Spouse in love.
Before the Lord, she wheels her chair;
Her eyes now raised to God above.
She resides in her parents' care,
With tube feed and heart monitor.
Her body frail; her mind aware:
This handicap is her cloister.
As cup and host are raised on high,
His Love thaws my cold heart of stone.
When Spirit prays His deepest sigh,
Our handicaps become His throne!
His little bride, with beaming glow,
Receives her Spouse by a syringe.
His Joy and Peace now overflow:
She is the gifted -- I'm the fringe!
Her smile made my small heart burst;
The least souls draw Love; they're
the first!
