Standing Solid In Solitude
"And in the morning, a great while before
day, he rose and went out to a lonely place,
and there he prayed." 1
"And he said to them, 'Come away by
yourselves to a lonely place, and rest a
while.' For many were coming and going, and
they had no leisure even to eat. And they
went away in the boat to a lonely place by
themselves." 2
Soliloquy
My journey into solitude,
Through endless fields of sky and plain,
Begins, not with beatitude,
But in my loneliness and pain.
It's here I meet my emptiness;
I am nothing without my God.
I shrink before His mightiness:
A speck beneath the sky I trod.
But solitude is a blessing:
He fills my endless void with grace.
Though on my own I am nothing;
Here in His hand, I find my place.
Now I embrace my emptiness;
I stand solid in solitude.
What seemed destined for loneliness,
Has become a beatitude.
