Introduction
The Gospel of John bears witness to
the Life
and Mission of Jesus Christ, the Son
of God,
who lived as one of us and sacrificed
Himself
to redeem each of us in His merciful
love.
St. John the Evangelist, one of the
twelve
Apostles of Jesus, participates in
the Gospel
narrative as 'the beloved disciple'.
He bears
witness to the Truth of Jesus and reveals
the heart of His love for us, so that
we
might have faith in Him.
"Now Jesus did many other signs
in the
presence of (his) disciples that are
not
written in this book. But these are
written
that you may (come to) believe that
Jesus
is the Messiah, the Son of God, and
that
through this belief you may have life
in
his name." (1)
This series of meditations has been
created
as a companion to the spiritual reading
of
the Gospel of John. Each meditation
is meant
to be read slowly and savored following
the
careful reading of the Gospel passage.
In
this way, the spirit of the Word may
flow
through meditation to the heart and
soul
of the reader.
May you meet Jesus Christ, the Word
of God
made Flesh, through this Gospel and
the meditations
that follow.
