John 21:1-14
The Lord calls us to renew our daily existence
in His ways, to yield His works with an abundance
of His grace.
"Wherever the river flows, every sort
of living creature that can multiply shall
live, and there shall be abundant fish, for
wherever this water comes the sea shall be
made fresh. Fishermen shall be standing along
it from En-gedi to En-eglaim, spreading their
nets there. Its kinds of fish shall be like
those of the Great Sea, very numerous… Along
both banks of the river, fruit trees of every
kind shall grow; their leaves shall not fade,
nor their fruit fail. Every month they shall
bear fresh fruit, for they shall be watered
by the flow from the sanctuary. Their fruit
shall serve for food, and their leaves for
medicine." (1)
Bounty Of Grace
They went home and fished through the
night;
At dawn, their nets were still empty.
He called: "Cast your nets to
the right."
Their nets were filled abundantly.
"It is the Lord!", John told
Peter;
Peter dove in and swam to shore.
They brought the boat, nets held secure.
So many fish - their nets weren't tore.
He made breakfast on charcoal fire;
Peter brought fish, which He prepared.
He served them, to fill and inspire
Them to draw life from what He shared.
To follow Him in a new way,
Transforming their work in their place,
To yield His works and to obey,
He provides a bounty of grace.
They were sent forth, with grace to
wield,
To gather His abundant yield.
May we go forth in the way He has laid
out
before each of us, striving to do His
will
in all, with the help of His abundant
grace.
