His Little Way
"He went down with them and came to
Nazareth, and was obedient to them; and his
mother kept all these things in her heart.
And Jesus advanced (in) wisdom and age and
favor before God and man."1
"…and coming to his own country he taught
them in their synagogue, so that they were
astonished, and said, 'Where did this man
get this wisdom and these mighty works? Is
not this the carpenter's son? Is not his
mother called Mary?'"2
My heart leaps up to dance and sing!
Deep in my soul, His praises ring.
In joy, I chant of Heaven's Child:
The Spotless Lamb who was annihiled.
The Prince of Peace, born of Mary:
The angels sang His mystery;
The shepherds watched, so wonder-filled --
In Mary's heart, the awe was stilled.
The Word made Flesh in Virgin Pure;
In poverty, He came obscure;
In bed of straw, the Infant lay:
Humility, his simple way.
Joseph saved Him from certain death;
In time, they came to Nazareth.
The Child grew in Wisdom's ways:
Peace joy and love filled all His days.
For thirty years, God's Chosen One,
Was hidden in Carpenter's Son.
Obedience became His joy --
A steadfastness none could destroy.
Sheltered within His Mother's heart,
He remained Pure right from the start.
By the Spirit, He became Truth:
The Father's Son throughout His youth.
His Hidden Life is ours to share.
Within Carmel, we're called to bear
Our witness to His Little Way
In all we live and work and pray.
