Obedience
"And he said to all, 'If any man would
come after me, let him deny himself and take
up his cross daily and follow me.'"
1
"Have among yourselves the same attitude
that is also yours in Christ Jesus, who,
though he was in the form of God, did not
regard equality with God something to be
grasped. Rather, he emptied himself, taking
the form of a slave, coming in human likeness;
and found human in appearance, he humbled
himself, becoming obedient to death, even
death on a cross." 2
I Obey
St Albert's Rule, I obey:
It structures my life and my prayer;
It marks the road and lights the way;
It places me in Mother's care.
The Spirit's promptings, I obey:
The Father's Will He helps discern;
At ev'ry moment of the day
He guides my hand; I will not churn.
My earthly master, I obey:
This humbling service teaches me
To leave my self behind today,
And clutch the cross: humility.
Obedience has set me free
From selfish whim and wasted days.
Each moment to eternity
Is used to serve Him and His ways!
His disciple, with cross in hand,
Follows His lead and His command.
