Surrender
Little bird finds itself enlightened to the
realities in which it has been created. It
finds little consolation in the passing things
that surround it. It finds the will to forsake
the world and all that it holds; to surrender
itself completely to the King. Little bird
pleads: "I lie prostrate in the dust;
give me life according to your word."
1.
It has confidence in the King's Love: "For
in sacrifice you take no delight...a humbled,
contrite heart you will not spurn" 2
A partner in redemption; little bird
does
her part
To secure salvation: surrendering her
heart.
Sanctifier's light illumines each crevice
found therein:
Dispelling all the darkness; scattering
the
sin.

Total Surrender
Surrender bindings of worldly wire:
Heart of stone and spirit of clay;
Eyes scaled over with pride and desire --
Sooted with sin -- in disarray.
Fell the scales and shed the clay;
With mercy, melt the heart of
stone.
In humble penitence, pray,
For grace to live for God alone.
Wonderful words will not suffice;
Conditional terms will not hold.
Surrender is better than sacrifice;
A humbled heart worthy of gold.
Come to the Lord with all your heart;
A new spirit He will impart.
