Children of the Cross
"Put off your old nature which belongs
to your former manner of life and is corrupt
through deceitful lusts, and be renewed in
the spirit of your minds, and put on the
new nature, created after the likeness of
God in true righteousness and holiness."
Child of Mine, you share My cross
In each struggle and every pain.
These things which you once viewed as loss
Are transformed into heaven's gain.
Child of Mine, you share My crown;
Though you struggle with self and sin,
And Satan's blows will strike you down:
God is with you and you will win.
Child of Mine, you share My tears
Whene'er a soul rejects My love
And gives in to their whims and fears:
Losing their strength from God above.
Child of Mine, you share My soul:
Offer brokenness up to Me;
Merciful Love will make you whole:
Sin transformed into sanctity.
Child of Mine, you share My hands
To reach out to each one in need
To welcome those from foreign lands
To till your heart and sow My seed
Child of Mine, you share My feet
To follow Me along My way
To bring My love to those you meet
And walk with them to Me each day.
Child of Mine, you share My voice
To speak the truth and spread My word.
With humble thanks you will rejoice
When hearts soften and I am heard.
Child of Mine, you share my breath
When with My love you breathe new life:
Vitality from what was death
And unity from what was strife.
Child of Mine, you share My eyes
To find My will in all you see
To discern truth from all the lies
And gaze on High eternally.
"I have been crucified with Christ;
it is no longer I who live, but Christ who
lives in me; and the life I now live in the
flesh I live by faith in the Son of God,
who loved me and gave himself for me."
