Hope for the Present Moment
"Because the hope of the ungodly man
is like chaff carried by the wind, and like
a light hoarfrost driven away by a storm;
it is dispersed like smoke before the wind,
and it passes like the remembrance of a guest
who stays but a day." 1
"For God alone my soul waits in silence,
for my hope is from him. He only is my rock
and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not
be shaken." 2

Hope's Promise
In hopeless pain, I walked this earth;
With ev'ry promise, I would sway.
Then I was led into His Light:
He healed my pain; restored my sight!
My sinful past was washed away;
My future death became rebirth.
A Living Hope anchors my soul:
Affirms my faith; secures my peace.
His Love outpoured ends my heart's strife:
Now I hope in eternal life!
My past and future, I release.
In this pure moment, I am whole.
In joyful patience, I endure;
He holds my place until I'm pure.

"We have this as a sure and steadfast
anchor of the soul, a hope that enters into
the inner shrine behind the curtain, where
Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf,
having become a high priest for ever after
the order of Melchizedek." 3
"And hope does not disappoint us, because
God's love has been poured into our hearts
through the Holy Spirit which has been given
to us." 4
"For in this hope we were saved. Now
hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes
for what he sees? But if we hope for what
we do not see, we wait for it with patience."
