The Voice of Silence
"For God alone my soul waits in silence;
from him comes my salvation…For God alone
my soul waits in silence, for my hope is
from him." 1
The Silent Prayer
He stills my heart -- a placid pool;
The churning settles to the floor.
His gentle touch -- complete renew'l,
With His first knock at my heart's door.
Without a word, He speaks His Name.
My silent heart opens the door.
The sheer silence with which He came
Now floods my heart as ne'er before.
My naked soul before Him lays:
It feeds on Him as in the womb.
It overflows with joyful praise:
LOVE is its Master and Bridegroom!
He gently wounds my soul -- a lamb;
Its tears of love begin to flow.
I offer Him all that I am:
In my soul's pain, His Love will grow.
He lifts my cross upon His back.
His eyes meet mine in tears of Love.
Then my heart's door opens a crack.
He slips away -- somewhere above.
In sheer silence His voice is heard:
His voice is LOVE; He is the Word.
