 Your Word Is Life 
"Your word is a lamp for my feet, a
light for my path…I am very much afflicted,
LORD; give me life in accord with your word…You
are my refuge and shield; in your word I
hope…Let my cry come before you, LORD; in
keeping with your word give me discernment…Let
my prayer come before you; rescue me according
to your promise." (1)
"God of my fathers, LORD of mercy. you
who have made all things by your word…That
your sons whom you loved might learn, O LORD,
that it is not the various kinds of fruits
that nourish man, but it is your word that
preserves those who believe you! For what
was not destroyed by fire, when merely warmed
by a momentary sunbeam, melted; So that men
might know that one must give you thanks
before the sunrise, and turn to you at daybreak."

Descent of the Word
Lord, lift my heart above its churn,
And clear my mind of its debris.
Prepare my spirit to discern
Your word with peace and clarity.
Lord, let Your word descend upon
My spirit like the morning dew.
Your light, like the first rays of
dawn,
Will spark Your word, reflecting You.
Lord, let Your love soak in my soul
Like morning mist on meadows dry.
You quench my thirst and fill my whole;
Your Spirit stills me with its sigh.
Lord, let Your life dawn blazing bright:
Imbue my heart with love's UV;
Infuse my mind with wisdom's light
--
My soul ascends triumphantly!
Your word is life and love and light:
Soul, heart and mind with You unite.
