Do Not Cling To This World
I shall say to myself, "Now as for you,
you have so many good things stored up for
many years, rest, eat, drink, be merry!"
But God said to him, 'You fool, this night
your life will be demanded of you; and the
things you have prepared, to whom will they
belong?' (Luke 12:19-20)
For we brought nothing into the world, just
as we shall not be able to take anything
out of it. (1 Timothy 6:7)
Store up treasures in heaven, where neither
moth nor decay destroys, nor thieves break
in and steal. For where your treasure is,
there also will your heart be. (Matthew 6:20-21)
Jesus answered, "My kingdom does not
belong to this world." (John 18:36)
What profit would there be for one to gain
the whole world and forfeit his life? Or
what can one give in exchange for his life?
(Matthew 16:26)
Jesus said to him, "If you wish to be
perfect, go, sell what you have and give
to (the) poor, and you will have treasure
in heaven. Then come, follow Me." (Matthew
19:21)
For all that is in the world, sensual lust,
enticement for the eyes, and a pretentious
life, is not from
the Father but is from the world. Yet the
world and its enticement are passing away.
But whoever does the will of God remains
forever. (1 John 2:16-17)
May I never boast except in the cross of
our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the
world has been crucified to me, and I to
the world. (Galations 6:14)
I have told you this so that you might have
peace in Me. In the world you will have trouble,
but take courage, I have conquered the world."
(John 16:33)
Whoever is begotten by God conquers the world.
(1 John 5:4)
I gave them Your word, and the world
hated
them, because they do not belong to
the world
any more than I belong to the world.
I do
not ask that You take them out of the
world
but that You keep them from the evil
one.
(John 17:14-15)
